A World War I German Eierhandgranate Model 1917 or Egg Grenade, equipped with a 5 second fuse. This model has the segmented band around the middle to assist in fragmentation. These were a big improvement on the earlier German grenades of the time, being much easier to throw.

Measures roughly 4" long by 2" in diameter.
