WWI British P1907 SMLE Lee Enfield Bayonet by Sanderson
Made by Sanderson Brothers & Newbould Ltd. in 1918, its scabbard sports the round frog stud that was approved for use in 1915. Both the wood grip on one side and the scabbard are deeply carved with characters, likely done in the field by its original owner. Otherwise in good condition with minor wear throughout.
Marked on the ricasso (right) with a broad arrow, X (bend test mark) as well as three Enfield viewer's marks.
Left Ricasso is marked with a crown over 'GR', followed by '1907', 9 '18, and SANDERSON.
It also has a worn broad arrow in the letter C next to the press stud, marking this as a piece that was put into service by the Canadian Military in World War I.
