WWII German M1884 K98 Mauser Bayonet
A WWII Era German M1884/98 knife bayonet for use with the 8mm Mauser Kar 98 Rifle. This example was made by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen in 1941. The ricasso is marked on one side with the maker's three character code "cvl" along with "41", and on the other side is the serial number 2402 with a cursive lowercase g below. The scabbard is correct although the serial number appears to read 6244. The mark on the leather frog reads "kvz 1943" indicating it was made by Timmermann & Wollet of Heidelberg. There are two illegible waffenamt marks on the pommel and one on the press stud.
A good amount of original bluing remains on the blade, although it fades as you move nearer to the tip. The black plastic grips are in good shape, and although there is some corrosion on the pommel, the press stud still moves freely.
Blade Length : 252mm
