Quite a rare piece! The U.S. Small Arms Co. Defender Pocket Knife Pistol, a single shot pistol chambered .22 short rimfire cartridges.

These were produced between 1917 and 1934. One of the two original blades is missing, having snapped off at some point in its history. It has a swing out chamber held shut by a small manual catch, and a self charging trigger. After flipping the trigger out, pressing it back in place both pulls back the firing pin and releases it.

Measures just over 3" long.
