T. Nichol Pre-Confederation Black Powder Percussion Rifle
A black powder percussion muzzleloader by T. Nichol, made in the Pre-Confederation era of Canada's history. Marked on the barrel with "T. Nichol Chatham CW" for 'Canada West' (later to become Ontario) and "No. 129 GT". The lock is marked "Henry Parker Warranted".
Overall this has seen a lot of wear. The stock is damaged in a couple of places, and the ramrod is missing along with one of the retaining rings to hold it. The channel that the rod runs along is dented near the muzzle. The action is currently not holding cock, and will need significant work if you want to get it into fireable condition. Still all in all an absolutely phenomenal piece from Canada West, and a tangible piece of Canadian history.
Circa 1850.
