European Flintlock Pistol, Cal-.58 BP (1790-1820)
Everything Old Antiques & Vintage
SKU: 1-160288
European (Dutch or German) flintlock trade pistol made circa c.1790~
This type of pistol would have typically been used during travel, due to its powerful caliber (.58 cal) and its relatively small size. The longer barrel meant that it could be used at a greater distance that smaller pistols and could be fired for effect from a coach or other form of shelter.
The action works at full cock as does the trigger release. It will need a ramrod. All of the brass and steel fittings are in pretty good shape, with nicely detailed scrollwork. There appears to be a name inscribed on the lock, however, we have not yet deciphered it. The bore is better than expected!
