While Washburn is still an instrument maker today, the Washburn that this mandolin is was made by Lyon & Healy back in the early 1900's. Washburn was Lyon & Healy's top-of-the-line mandolin model, so while I don't have the know-how myself to make this beauty sing, I'm pretty sure it'll play beautifully for you when you get it home! It has the original label on the inside with the serial number 17030, and the label has the red ribbon on the outside which dates it to around 1910.

The back is a bowlback made of 15 sections. There is one small split right at the base of one of the sections.
