Antique Counterbalance Postal Scale
Everything Old Antiques & Vintage
SKU: 1-156845
Back before they had digital scales, they had to put letters on little mechanisms like this one to figure out how many pennies to charge you for its transit on the Great Mailway. That's my new word for the postal system.
This one is cool because the cross-leg on the left rotates AND the platform comes off so it can pack flat! I guess so you could weigh people's mail on the go? Maybe that was a thing?
Measures 8.5" tall, 6.5" wide.
